OFFICIAL COMMUNIQUE

For security reasons, the World Cup trial in Cabras has been canceled.

CABRAS (OR) - Due to the strong wind storm that hit Cabras, Is Arutas beach and the rest of Sardinia (gusts to 70/80 km/h), the decision was made to cancel the third round of the UCI cyclocross world cup. The local Organizing Committee, the Municipality of Cabras and the Crazy Wheels company, Flanders Classics, the UCI and the security services agreed to this decision because the safety of the riders, staff, volunteers and the public could not be guaranteed.

Also, taking into account the weather forecast for the next few hours and sunset at 5 p.m., the two scheduled races (Women Elite and Men Elite) could not be postponed.

Ensuring the safety of athletes, fans and all personnel remains the top priority.

"It has been exciting to work on the preparation of this major international event, characterized by a'very complex organization, and it was important to work together with the'Crazy Wheels sports association with all the wonderful volunteers and to the world of professional cycling - said the Mayor of Cabras, Andrea Abis -. The race was canceled by the'UCI for reasons of athletes' safety due to the strong wind on the circuit. To all those who worked tirelessly go our thanks and a reassurance: we strongly believe in this project that, in addition to the'sports importance, has at its core a philosophy of living and promoting the area. L'appointment is only postponed until next year."

"We are deeply sorry for the'cancellation of'event - he said. Luca Massa, president of Crazy Wheels -. After months of hard work by the organizing committee and a lot of passion, we share the disappointment of all those who were looking forward to this day, but the safety of the athletes and the public remains our priority. This, however, is not the end of our journey: we will be back next year, stronger and more motivated than ever, strengthened by the positive feedback we received from runners on the beauty trail, to offer you a'even more extraordinary experience. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support and understanding."

The organization invested significant resources in preparing for the event, well before the last-minute cancellation. Purchased tickets will be valid for the next edition of the event, already scheduled in Sardinia for 2025. However, those who wish to obtain a refund may make a request by sending an email to info@ucicyclocrossworldcup-sardinia.com by December 10, 2024, attaching a copy of the ticket and a valid ID. The organization will provide reimbursement by June 30, 2025.
